There’s nothing like the Okanagan when the sun is out! A combination of dry, desert climate with cool lakes and lush orchards, the North Okanagan is paradise on Earth. A trip to the North Okanagan is your chance to swim, boat, golf, hike and more! But if you happen to come on August 31 – Sept 2, it’s also time for the…

INTERIOR PROVINCIAL EXHIBITION

Otherwise known as the IPE, the Interior Provincial Exhibition is the largest parade, festival, farm exhibition, rodeo and fairground in the interior of British Columbia! Commencing with a parade through downtown Armstrong and culminating in four days of rides, fair foods, games and more, this is THE weekend in the Okanagan!

This is the IPE’s 119th year, which just goes to show how much we love it. There’s an incredible assortment of rides, from classic teacups to the death-defying Twister, the spinning Gravitron to an old-fashioned Ferris Wheel. Formative memories are made at the IPE, whether you want gentle fun or utterly terrifying thrills!

You can also tune in to the Finning Canada Pro Rodeo Finals and watch the best of Western Canada show how you ride a bull or lasso a calf! These cowboys are competing to prove who’s the best around so it’s sure to be an amazing show.

Whether you’re a farmer or just love farm fresh goods this is also your chance to see the latest farm technologies and techniques on display at the agri-exhibition hall! Or, you could just treat yourself to a freshly cooked corndog or mini-donuts.

We look forward to the IPE every year, and if you’ve never been there’s no time like the present to find out what you’ve been missing!

Camping around Armstrong is always booked up this weekend, so if you're looking for accommodations for the IPE book a room at the nearby Village Green Hotel for a comfortable room that will give you a break from the sun. We’re a short 15-minute drive from the fairgrounds, and a whole heck of a lot more comfortable than the ground!
